This project is a finalist in the 2023 RFID Journal Award in the category of Best RFID or IoT Implementation (other industry). Around 40,000 people with dementia go missing for the first time every year in the United Kingdom. The UK’s Avon and Somerset Police Force is helping families and the wider community locate missing people who are living with dementia, or who may require assistance while out in the community. In this session learn how police force’s Dementia Safeguarding Scheme, an IoT-based solution designed to reduce the number of people living with dementia who were reported as missing, as well as safeguarding them in public settings and allowing citizens to assist them by contacting next of kin.
